CAF Accused of Rigging AFCON Appeals Process in Favor of Morocco

Senegal faces a Morocco threat in 2025 AFCON

A major investigation led by journalist Romain Molina and Sport News Africa has accused the Confederation of African Football (CAF) of manipulating the appeals process to award the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title to Morocco.

The allegations follow Senegal’s initial victory in the final, which was overturned by CAF’s appeals committee over eligibility issues. Molina’s report, however, claims the decision was not the result of fair process but rather a coordinated effort to hand the trophy to Morocco.

The investigation points to serious procedural irregularities, including biased jury appointments and conflicts of interest within CAF’s own organizational structure.

According to the findings, the appeals committee’s composition and its handling of the case were compromised, raising questions about the integrity of the confederation’s judicial mechanisms. The report suggests that internal favoritism played a decisive role in reversing Senegal’s win.
