Inside Osimhen’s Landmark Galatasaray Transfer

Victor Osimhen 2024 transfer

German journalist Florian Plettenberg took to Twitter to reveal exclusive details from George Gardi, the intermediary who brokered Victor Osimhen's record-breaking move to Galatasaray. Gardi shed light on the complex negotiations that saw one of the world's best strikers join the Turkish giants.

According to Gardi, the deal was rooted in a clear, multi-year project, not a short-term fix. Osimhen’s commitment is absolute: "There is no release clause," and Gardi believes, "Honestly, I don't think there is a price tag." his statement emphasizes the club's desire to build around the Nigerian forward.

The transfer involved significant tactical maneuvering. Gardi explained he had a tight timeframe to act after other potential deals for Napoli failed. His strategy was two-fold: he convinced Osimhen to extend his contract with Napoli by a year to facilitate the initial loan, while simultaneously working to reduce the transfer fee.

Gardi successfully brought Napoli’s release clause down from over €100 million to €75 million. He views this as a tremendous success for the Turkish club. "We’re talking about one of the best number nines in the world. Securing him for €75 million was an excellent piece of business for the club," Gardi stated. This €75 million deal is widely regarded as a historic moment for Turkish football, delivering a world-class player at the peak of his career.
