Taiwo Awoniyi has spoken for the first time since completing his £17 million move from Nottingham Forest to Coventry City.
The Nigerian striker, who was confirmed as a Coventry player on August 17 after passing his medical, said he is happy to join the Sky Blues and eager to start work with his new teammates. He will wear the No. 14 shirt for the club.
In his first interview with the club's website, Awoniyi praised Coventry's rise from the Championship. "I'm very happy to complete my move to Coventry City. I am very excited about this season, and I can't wait to get started," he said.
"I'm really looking forward to working with my new teammates. I saw how amazing they were last season. Coming up from the Championship, they were incredible, and now I'm excited to join them and get started for the new season."
The 29-year-old leaves Nottingham Forest after 103 appearances and 23 goals over three seasons. His move comes as Coventry, managed by Frank Lampard, prepare for their first Premier League season since promotion.
