Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld has urged his former club to move for Nigeria international Victor Osimhen ahead of Premier League rivals.
Alderweireld made the comments in an interview with Hajper, saying Tottenham should act quickly to secure the striker before other interested clubs become involved.
Alderweireld said Tottenham have lacked a top centre-forward since Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich in 2023 and identified Osimhen as the solution to that problem. He said Osimhen has scored at every club he has represented and would deliver goals in the Premier League.
According to Alderweireld, Spurs could use a striker like Osimhen because goals were what they lacked last season as well. He added that Tottenham cannot afford to gamble this season and need to invest in proven players to give something back to supporters.
He also addressed why some top clubs have hesitated, saying the only concern for clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United is maybe his age. Alderweireld noted that many clubs now want to find a 23-year-old superstar who can score for the next seven or eight years, but said teams also need a good mix of experience and youth.
