Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has said Nigeria could have contended for the 2026 FIFA World Cup if the national team had qualified, citing recent results involving Morocco and Brazil to support his claim.

In a post on X, the artist, whose real name is Tochukwu Ojogwu, wrote that Nigeria drew with Morocco in Morocco, while Morocco drew with Brazil at the World Cup. He concluded that this meant Nigeria would have had a chance to win the tournament. The statement was posted as the 2026 FIFA World Cup began on June 11, 2026, and runs through July 19, 2026.

The Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2026 tournament after a series of setbacks in the African qualifiers. Nigeria lost to the Democratic Republic of Congo 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in a playoff match held in Rabat. The result confirmed that Nigeria would miss consecutive World Cups, having also been absent from Qatar 2022. The Nigerian Football Federation faced criticism from fans and public figures after the exit, with former player Osaze Odemwingie and politician Peter Obi among those commenting on the team's absence.

Odumodublvck's post linked Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Morocco at the 2026 World Cup to Nigeria’s earlier draw with Morocco at AFCON 2025. He argued that the chain of results showed Nigeria’s quality. The comment drew reactions online, with some fans referencing players Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, and others using the logic to place Nigeria among top teams. Nigeria has qualified for six of the seven World Cups between 1994 and 2014, but will not feature in the expanded 2026 edition in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
