Barcelona is finalizing a loan agreement to send forward Ansu Fati to AS Monaco for the 2025–26 season, with negotiations now in advanced stages.
The deal comes after talks briefly stalled earlier this summer but have since resumed and progressed positively. According to reports from Fabrizio Romano and Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the two clubs are working to complete the move before the transfer window closes.
Fati, 22, has fallen in the pecking order at Camp Nou following the emergence of Lamine Yamal and struggled to secure consistent minutes under head coach Hansi Flick last season.
Monaco has emerged as his preferred destination after the player turned down other options, including proposals from La Liga sides and Saudi Arabia, with his agent Jorge Mendes instructed to prioritize the Ligue 1 club.
As part of the proposed agreement, Barcelona is insisting on protective clauses should Fati depart permanently in the future. Mundo Deportivo reports the Catalan club has already secured a buy-back clause valued at slightly over €25 million, giving Barcelona the right to re-sign the winger if he rediscovers his form in France.
Discussions are also reportedly ongoing regarding a sell-on percentage, which would entitle Barcelona to a share of any future transfer fee if Monaco later sells Fati to another club. The structure is intended to ensure Barcelona retains long-term financial control over a player who was once viewed as Lionel Messi’s successor and who carries a significant market value despite recent setbacks.
