Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has selected seven players from the Nigeria Premier Football League for the Super Eagles squad competing in the 2026 Unity Cup in London.

The Nigeria Football Federation announced the 27-man list on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, ahead of the tournament scheduled for May 26-30 at The Valley, home of Charlton Athletic.

The home-based players named are goalkeeper Michael Atata of Ikorodu City; defenders Obinna Igboke and Chibueze Oputa of Rangers, and Elias Ochobi of Rivers United; and midfielders Aderemi Adeoye, Tosin Oyedokun, both of Ikorodu City, and Ayobami Junior of Shooting Stars. The squad blends the NPFL contingent with Europe-based regulars including Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon and Terem Moffi.

Nigeria will open the four-team invitational tournament against Zimbabwe on May 26 in the semi-final. The winner advances to the final to face either Jamaica or India on May 30. Chelle said the Unity Cup will be used to assess fringe players and those from competitive leagues, while rewarding in-form performers from the NPFL. Ikorodu City contributed three players to the squad, with Rangers providing two, as the coach continues a recent tour of domestic league fixtures to scout talent.

The inclusion of the NPFL group follows calls for greater domestic representation in the national team. Chelle attended NPFL MatchDay 36 between Ikorodu City and Wikki Tourists earlier this month as part of his evaluation process ahead of the London tournament.
