Police Clash with Galatasaray After Trabzonspor Defeat

Tensions erupted after Trabzonspor’s 2–1 win over Galatasaray on April 4, 2026, when police confronted the visiting team in the post-match corridor at Papara Park.

The Turkish Süper Lig match kicked off at 17:00, with Trabzonspor winning over their rivals. As home players celebrated on the pitch, the Galatasaray team headed toward the locker room, where the situation quickly escalated.

According to reports, police entered the corridor and ordered Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk, his staff, and players to immediately go into their dressing room. Buruk responded by asking for a brief delay, stating, "Wait one minute, let the referee come, I'll talk to the referee about what happened here, and I'll speak with the officials." At that moment, a police chief dispatched from another district allegedly began pushing Buruk, players, and staff during the argument.

Witnesses described the officer acting "as if it were his father's farm." When goalkeeper Batuhan Şen reacted from behind, the tension escalated further, and hands were reportedly raised. The incident was first publicized by Galatasaray-affiliated sources and individuals, including social media account Forza Cimbom, which detailed the sequence of events.
