Bayern Munich attacker Michael Olise has been likened to Zinedine Zidane by former France international Christophe Dugarry.

The ex-forward, a member of France's 1998 World Cup-winning team, said the 24-year-old displays a level of elegance and control that recalls his famous teammate. Dugarry pointed to Olise's balance on the ball and his choices in tight areas as the main similarities. He argued that the winger combines calmness with output, and that this mix is helping him grow into a central figure for both Bayern and the French national side.

According to Goal.com, Dugarry gave his view on French station RMC Sport after watching Olise feature in Bayern's Champions League semi-final first leg away to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Bundesliga club lost a high-scoring game 5-4 in Paris, with Olise scoring to bring the tie level at 2-2 during the first half. Dugarry described the display as confirmation of a rare talent, saying the wider public has not yet grasped his influence. He talked about a player at the very start of his progression, stressing his ability to finish, create for teammates and use his speed. He also suggested fans are seeing the early phase of a career that could define the next period for French football.

Dugarry, who shared a dressing room with Zidane during France's home World Cup success, accepted the comparison was bold but stood by it. He said Olise shows a similar relaxed touch, physical shielding of the ball, fluid runs between the lines, and quick reading of play.

The Bayern star, full name Michael Akpovie Olise, was born in England before choosing to represent France. He is used both as a wide player and as an attacking midfielder. Recognised for his creativity, dribbling ability and flair, he has become one of Bayern's most reliable attacking outlets this season and is now frequently listed among the most promising young players in the world game.
