Havertz Hails ‘World’s Best’ Raya After Arsenal’s Late Win in Lisbon

Kai Havertz came off the bench to score a 91st-minute winner

Kai Havertz came off the bench to score a 91st-minute winner as Arsenal secured a 1-0 victory over Sporting CP in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg on April 7, 2026.

Gabriel Martinelli delivered a defence-splitting pass from the left, and Havertz controlled it deftly before finishing calmly past goalkeeper Rui Silva with his left foot.

Speaking immediately after the final whistle, Havertz reserved his highest praise for Arsenal’s goalkeeper David Raya. “He’s unbelievable,” Havertz said. “Still underestimated in the world of football, but for me, the last two seasons, the best keeper in the world. He saved us so many times, and we’re very glad to have him.”

Havertz, 26, and Raya, 30, have been key figures for Arsenal this season. The narrow away win puts Mikel Arteta’s side in a strong position ahead of the second leg at the Emirates.
