Nigerian high jumper and national record holder Temitope Adeshina has been named the Women’s Field Athlete of the Year for the Mountain Region by the USTFCCCA.
The honor follows an undefeated 2026 indoor season where Adeshina solidified her status as one of the world's premier collegiate athletes. Representing Texas Tech, she continues to dominate the high jump circuit with consistent, elite-level performances.
Adeshina’s recent success is headlined by her successful defense of the NCAA Division Indoor Championship title in March 2026. She secured the gold medal by clearing 1.97m, matching her own Nigerian national record.
This victory marks her third consecutive Big 12 Conference title, maintaining a winning streak that began in 2024 and emphasizes her technical growth and competitive resilience on the global stage.
Adeshina remains a pioneer for Nigerian athletics. In 2024, she became the first Nigerian high jumper to compete at the Olympic Games since 2016, finishing 9th in her group in Paris. At 27 years old and standing 1.95m tall, her ability to clear heights above her own stature has placed her at the forefront of the sport.
