Following Chelsea’s heavy 5-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie, Danish goalkeeping legend Peter Schmeichel shared a significant update regarding the club’s internal plans.

Speaking after the match at the Parc des Princes, where goals from Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembélé, and a double from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia overwhelmed the visitors, Schmeichel revealed that manager Liam Rosenior has reportedly made a decisive call regarding his last line of defense.

Speaking during CBS Sports coverage after the match, the former Manchester United and Denmark international stated that Rosenior has informed shot-stopper Filip Jorgensen that he is now the club’s undisputed number one goalkeeper.

This decision comes at the expense of Robert Sanchez, who has previously held the starting role. The revelation suggests a major shift in the Chelsea coaching staff's preferences as they look to stabilize the team following a difficult result in Paris.

The update places Jorgensen in a key position moving forward, despite the heavy defeat. While the scoreline in Paris exposed defensive frailties, Schmeichel’s report indicates that the club views the young goalkeeper as the long-term solution between the posts.
