Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen has reportedly insisted on participating in the highly anticipated Galatasaray vs. Fenerbahçe match, scheduled for December 1st. This development comes as the crucial derby approaches, with Osimhen's fitness being a central discussion point.

According to Turkish reports, medical staff advise that Osimhen is currently not fit to partake in the upcoming match due to a moderate-grade hamstring strain. However, Osimhen has strongly reiterated his desire to play, stating, “We will play our most important rival, I want to be on the field.”

The injury occurred on November 16, 2025, during Nigeria's World Cup African Qualifying Playoff Final against DR Congo. Osimhen sustained a moderate-grade strain with bleeding in his left posterior thigh muscle (hamstring). The incident happened in the first half, forcing the forward to be withdrawn at halftime to prevent the injury from worsening. This setback ended Nigeria's World Cup dreams, as they went on to lose the match on penalties.
