DR Congo defender Noah Sadiki offered a candid assessment of the Super Eagles' elimination, openly admitting that the second-half departure of star striker Victor Osimhen provided a significant advantage to his side. Sadiki made the comments to reporters immediately following the dramatic World Cup Playoff Final in Rabat, Morocco, on Sunday night.
The match, which ended 1-1 after 120 minutes, saw Osimhen substituted at halftime due to a leg injury.
Sadiki acknowledged the Nigerian striker’s importance: "We know that Osimhen is a big player. We knew he was their star player, and if he was out, it would be a bit easier." He concluded by confirming the belief within the DR Congo squad that the injury boosted their chances, especially heading into the penalty shootout which they ultimately won 4-3.
