Ghanaian singer Black Sheriff has voiced a perspective shared by many of his peers, highlighting what the industry needs to understand before artists can qualify for Grammy awards.

During an interview with Hitz FM, the artist explained that the Ghanaian music industry is still learning the specific principles and criteria for the Grammys. “I believe there are so many things that we do not know about the Grammys. There is some education that we need, and as time goes on, we will get it. It is a growing industry,” he stated.

With one of the largest fan bases in Ghana, Sheriff believes his supporters deserve a Grammy more than he does, as his primary focus remains on his craft. He expressed, “My fans would be happy, and the awards, mostly if I want it, I want it for the fans. It is a validation for them. My validation is in the music, but the community that supports me, they need the awards.”

When the 2026 Grammy nominations were revealed without a single Ghanaian artist, fans were concerned for Black Sheriff. However, the singer remained unfazed, stating, “I would have been happy if they nominated me, but it didn't even shift me when I was not nominated. I am not pushed, I'm not touched.”
