Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze says new AC Milan manager Ruben Amorim is playing a key role in his development as he adapts to a new position ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Chukwueze made the comments during AC Milan's first pre-season training session at the Milanello training centre on Monday. The session, which was open to supporters, was the team's first under Amorim, who took over as head coach this summer.
The 27-year-old, who returned from a loan spell at Fulham, was deployed on the right side of a four-man midfield in a wing-back role as part of a 3-4-2-1 system.
The Super Eagles player said it is the first time he is playing in that position and credited the coach for his hands-on guidance. He explained that Amorim corrects him whenever he makes a mistake and shows him what to do differently, adding that he expects to improve before the start of the season.
Chukwueze spent last season on loan at Fulham after struggling for regular minutes at Milan. He scored three goals and provided four assists during his time in the Premier League. His inclusion in Amorim's pre-season squad offers him a fresh opportunity to establish himself at the club as Milan prepares for the new Serie A campaign.
