South African Premier Soccer League club Chippa United announced on Sunday that Nigeria international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has rejoined the team.

The Eastern Cape outfit, known as the Chilli Boys, confirmed the goalkeeper’s return in a statement posted to their official X account. The club said it is pleased to welcome Nwabali back to Gqeberha after he spent time away from the side. The announcement ends weeks of speculation about the 29-year-old’s next move following his departure earlier this year.

Nwabali first joined Chippa United from Nigeria’s Katsina United in 2022 and quickly became a central figure for the club. He made 76 appearances across all competitions and recorded 25 clean sheets during his initial four-year spell. The shot stopper gained wider attention after his performances for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The club agreed to release Nwabali in February 2026 after the player submitted a formal request to leave, ending his previous tenure with the team.

Chippa United thanked him for his professionalism and wished him success in his next chapter. Sunday’s statement did not disclose the length or terms of Nwabali’s new agreement.
