Brentford FC have promoted defender Benjamin Fredrick to the club’s first-team squad ahead of the 2025/26 season, the club confirmed on 10 July 2026.

The 21-year-old Nigerian has also signed a new four-year contract that secures his future in west London. Fredrick, who joined Brentford on loan from Simoiben Football Academy in August 2023 before the move was made permanent in April 2024, will now train and compete with the senior group.

The promotion follows Fredrick’s return to full training after recovering from a serious knee injury that kept him out for eight months. Club officials said he has worked his way back to full fitness and is preparing for pre-season with the senior squad. Fredrick spent last season on loan at Belgian Pro League side Dender EH, making 14 appearances to gain first-team experience before returning to Brentford.

Head coach Keith Andrews said the club sees “a lot of potential” in the centre-back. Fredrick first broke through at Simoiben Football Academy, later playing for ABS FC and Nasarawa United in Nigeria before moving to England. He has represented Nigeria at U20 level, featuring in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA U-20 World Cup, and made his senior international debut in May 2025.
