Canadian forward Cyle Larin scored a late equalizer as co-hosts Canada drew 1-1 with Bosnia and Herzegovina in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group B opener on Friday at Toronto Stadium in Toronto.

The result gave both teams their first point of the tournament in a match that tested the hosts’ resolve against determined visitors.

Bosnia and Herzegovina midfielder Jovo Lukić, a Bosnian, headed home the opening goal in the 21st minute from a corner kick assisted by defender Sead Kolašinac, a Bosnian. Canada pressed after halftime, and forward Cyle Larin, a Canadian, volleyed the equalizer in the 78th minute after a move involving midfielder Ismaël Koné, a Canadian, and substitute Promise David, a Canadian.

Bosnia controlled much of the first half defensively, while Canada dominated possession and created chances in the second half.

Both teams sit level on one point with a goal difference of zero after one match in Group B. Canada, seeking their first-ever World Cup win, earned a valuable home point against lower-ranked opposition.

Canada faces Qatar on Thursday, June 18.
