Algeria defeated Jordan 2-1 in a Group J match at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium in Santa Clara on June 22, 2026. 

Jordanian midfielder Nizar Al-Rashdan gave the debutants a shock lead, but two second-half goals from substitutes secured victory for Algeria, keeping their knockout hopes alive while eliminating Jordan.

Nizar Al-Rashdan, a Jordanian midfielder, scored in the 36th minute, assisted by Jordanian forward Mousa Al-Tamari, with a clinical finish from the edge of the box after a cut-back. Nadhir Benbouali, an Algerian forward, equalized in the 69th minute with a header assisted by Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez from a corner routine. 

Amine Gouiri, an Algerian forward, scored the winner in the 82nd minute from a goalmouth scramble following another corner. Algeria dominated possession and pressure in the second half after trailing at the break.

Algeria improved to one win and one loss with three points and a goal difference of minus two, sitting third in Group J behind Argentina and Austria. Jordan remained without points after two defeats, with a goal difference of minus three, and were mathematically eliminated.

Jordan face Argentina on June 27 in their final group match.
