Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has returned to grass training this week, head coach Vitor Pereira confirmed Thursday.
The Nigeria international began work on the pitch for the first time since sustaining an undisclosed injury in late April. Pereira said Aina's availability for Sunday’s final Premier League fixture against Bournemouth remains uncertain and will depend on how he responds in the coming days.
Aina has been sidelined since hobbling off during Forest’s Europa League semi-final win over Aston Villa on April 30. He missed the club’s last four matches, including the recent clash with Manchester United.
The 28-year-old right-back has made 18 Premier League appearances this season, starting each when fit. Pereira stressed the club “can’t take risks” at this stage of the season despite wanting to finish with three points.
Forest will host Bournemouth at the City Ground on Sunday, May 24, for their final game of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.
