Former Arsenal and France midfielder Emmanuel Petit has said Arsenal should consider a move for Victor Osimhen, putting the Nigerian striker's price at around £100 million.
Petit spoke during an interview with a British presenter linked to Oddschecker and WhoScored, comments monitored by PUNCH Online on Friday, while assessing Arsenal's search for a new centre-forward. He named Osimhen as the next option for the club after Julian Alvarez, who has also been mentioned as a target for Mikel Arteta's side.
According to Petit, the two forwards would offer contrasting profiles. He stated: “Next one for Arsenal then is Victor Osimhen at £100 million.” Explaining the difference, he said: “They are different players. Not the same quality as Alvarez, but he will bring a powerful presence up front.”
Petit further pointed to Osimhen's athletic and mental qualities as reasons he could suit Arsenal. The Nigerian, who rose to prominence at Lille before becoming a leading scorer at Napoli, is known for his speed, strength and willingness to battle defenders.
The former midfielder highlighted those traits directly, saying: “He's fast, he's a fighter, he's got a bad temper as well, a strong personality.” He noted that such determination and character could give Arsenal a more physical focal point in attack, a different option to Alvarez as the club looks to add firepower for a sustained title challenge.
