English forward Harry Kane scored a hat-trick as German champions Bayern Munich beat 1. FC Köln 5-1 on May 16, 2026, at Munich's Allianz Arena, concluding their Bundesliga season with 113 league goals, breaking the competition's single-season record under Belgian head coach Vincent Kompany.
Harry Kane opened in the 10th minute, finishing first-time from a cross by German midfielder Lennart Karl. Three minutes later Kane doubled the lead from a direct free kick, the set-piece laid off by captain Joshua Kimmich. German winger Said El Mala pulled one back in the 18th minute with a left-footed drive unassisted after a Bayern turnover. German midfielder Tom Bischof restored the two-goal cushion in the 22nd minute, driving low from outside the box after another pass from Karl.
Kane completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute with a close-range finish. Senegalese forward Nicolas Jackson added the fifth in the 83rd minute, after replacing Leon Goretzka. Bayern controlled the first half with four goals in 12 minutes, then managed the second half with measured possession.
Bayern finished the 2026 Bundesliga in first place with 86 points from 33 matches, recording 27 wins, five draws and one defeat, sixteen points clear of second-placed German rivals Borussia Dortmund. The champions scored 113 league goals and conceded 36, giving a plus-77 goal difference, breaking the Bundesliga single-season scoring record previously held since 1971-72.
The record came under Belgian coach Vincent Kompany in his second year. Köln ended the campaign in the lower mid-table with 32 points, safe from relegation.
Bayern will face German side VfB Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal final on 23 May 2026 at Berlin's Olympiastadion, concluding their domestic season with a chance at a major second trophy.
