Al Nassr head coach Jorge Jesus addressed speculation that Pep Guardiola could replace him at the Saudi Pro League club during an interview with Sport TV Portugal this week.
When asked if he would feel pride if Guardiola took over, Jesus said: "Pride? No… Why would it be? The one who should feel proud about taking my place is him, not me. I am the champion coach." The comments came after Jesus led Al Nassr to the Saudi Championship title, his first league trophy with the Riyadh-based club.
Jesus announced he will depart Al Nassr at the end of the current season despite the title win. The Portuguese manager’s contract expires this summer, and reports have linked Manchester City’s Guardiola to the role. Al Nassr has not confirmed any negotiations with Guardiola, who remains under contract at City. Jesus, 71, joined Al Nassr in 2023 and has since overseen a period of heavy investment by the club, including the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo.
