Enzo Maresca has signed a three-year contract to become the new manager of Manchester City, succeeding Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported the agreement on Monday, stating it will keep the 46-year-old Italian at the club until June 2029. The deal was finalized following Guardiola's departure on Sunday, with Maresca set to lead what Romano described as a new chapter at City and to be fully involved in the club's recruitment plans.

The appointment follows the end of Guardiola's historic 10-year tenure. The Spaniard, who had a contract through June 2027, announced he would step aside at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season. He bid farewell to supporters on Sunday after his final Premier League match, a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa at the Etihad, having won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup this season.

Maresca arrives almost six months after his dismissal by Chelsea in January, following a reported clash with the club's board. He previously worked alongside Guardiola at City for a year before managing Leicester City, and then took charge at Chelsea ahead of the 2024-25 season, where he oversaw 92 games with 55 wins, 16 draws and 21 defeats.
