Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique praised Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola during a recent interview with Movistar Plus, calling him “the best manager of all time” and a personal role model.
The PSG boss made the comments while responding to reports that Guardiola will depart Manchester City at the end of the current season. Enrique expressed disbelief at the news and said he wants to see his fellow Spaniard continue coaching “at the highest level for many years.”
The interview aired on Movistar Plus this week. Enrique addressed speculation about Guardiola’s future after multiple outlets reported the Manchester City manager plans to leave when his contract expires.
Guardiola, who previously managed Bayern Munich and Barcelona, has led Manchester City since 2016. During his tenure, the club has won multiple Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.
Enrique and Guardiola are both from Spain and have faced each other as managers in European competition. In the interview, Enrique noted Guardiola’s impact on his own career, stating, “he is a role model for me.” The comments come as Manchester City approaches the final matches of the 2025-2026 season.
