Galatasaray are working to finalize the signing of VfB Stuttgart striker Ermedin Demirovic as a backup option for star forward Victor Osimhen, with completion expected within the next two days.
The development was revealed by Turkish transfer expert Suleyman Rodop. According to Rodop, who spoke through outlet Habersarikirmizi, the Istanbul club has made significant progress on the deal and an announcement is imminent barring any late complications.
Addressing the move, Rodop was quoted as saying: "Unless something unexpected happens at Galatasaray, Ermedin Demirovic will be Osimhen's backup." He added, "I think Galatasaray will have finalized the Ermedin Demirovic deal within 1-2 days."
If completed, Demirovic would arrive from the Bundesliga where he plays for VfB Stuttgart. The 27-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international joined Stuttgart from Augsburg in 2024 in a deal worth 21 million euros, becoming the club's record signing at the time, and is contracted until 2028.
Galatasaray are seeking additional depth in attack to reduce the workload on Osimhen, who joined the Turkish champions permanently from Napoli in a deal valued at about 75 million euros following a prolific loan season.
The Nigerian striker remains the first-choice forward, while Demirovic is being recruited to provide cover and rotation during a season that includes domestic and Champions League fixtures.
