Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has said Arsenal must sign a proven centre-forward to win the Premier League, identifying Victor Osimhen as the player who could decide the title race.
Speaking on The SportyTV podcast, Cole said Arsenal still lack a natural number nine. He said he would predict Manchester City to win the league if Arsenal do not address the position. Cole added that he would change his prediction and back Arsenal if they signed Osimhen, but as things stand his choice is City.
Cole's remarks relate to Arsenal's search for a striker to lead Mikel Arteta's attack. The club has been linked with several forwards in recent transfer windows, including Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres, as they aim to win a first league title since 2004.
Cole said the issue has been a recurring problem for Arsenal and could be decisive in a tight competition with City. Arsenal have finished second in each of the last three seasons and have been criticized for a lack of goals from their central striker.
