Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has disclosed that team captain Ahmed Musa gave him ₦100,000 after he first joined the national team in 2015.

Simon made the revelation during a recent interview, clips of which circulated online this week. He said the gesture came at a time when he had no money and the Nigeria Football Federation had not paid players their entitlements.

According to Simon, the incident occurred shortly after his debut call-up to the Super Eagles in 2015. He explained that new players were expected to handle personal expenses while in camp, but payments from the NFF were delayed. Ahmed Musa, already an established member of the squad, stepped in to assist him with ₦100,000 to cover his needs.

The Nigeria Football Federation has faced recurring disputes with national team players over unpaid bonuses and allowances. In January 2022, Musa himself confirmed the federation owed the Super Eagles bonuses for two matches ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.
