U.S. forward Folarin Balogun addressed reporters in a post-match interview early Saturday at Los Angeles Stadium following the United States’ 4-1 win over Paraguay in its World Cup 2026 opener.
Speaking after the match that ended at 2:00 a.m. WAT on June 13, Balogun called it “a fantastic day” and said “the joy we need the fans.” The interview occurred on the field as part of the team’s media availability after the victory.
Midway through Balogun’s comments, teammate Weston McKennie appeared behind him with a smile, photobombing the interview. Balogun noticed McKennie and reacted with a grin before continuing. The brief, lighthearted interruption became the main moment of the clip. Balogun did not break from the interview and looked forward, acknowledging the support from fans as he spoke.
The forward’s interview followed a match in which he scored two first-half goals to help the U.S. secure the 4-1 result. Balogun said the team will “look forward for that” when referencing the fans’ energy. The U.S. opened World Cup 2026 with the win in Inglewood, CA, and the post-match interview was shared by U.S. Soccer shortly after the final whistle.
