Robert Lewandowski will leave Barcelona at the end of the 2025-26 season, ending a four-year spell with the Catalan club.

The 37-year-old Poland striker confirmed his departure on Saturday, May 16, in a post on Instagram. Barcelona are scheduled to play their final home match of the LaLiga campaign against Real Betis at Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday, where Lewandowski is expected to bid farewell to supporters.

Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022 for about €45 million and became the club's main No. 9. He scored 119 goals in 191 appearances across all competitions. During his time in Spain he helped Barcelona win three LaLiga titles, one Copa del Rey and three Spanish Supercopas.

His contract expires on June 30. The club had been open to extending his stay for another season on reduced financial terms, but Lewandowski said he was leaving with the feeling that his work was finished, writing that "the mission is complete."

In his farewell message, Lewandowski thanked fans for their support "from my very first days" and described Catalonia as "my place on earth." He gave special thanks to president Joan Laporta for "the most incredible chapter of my career" and noted "four seasons, three championships."

His role was reduced this season, with 15 starts in 29 league games, but he remained part of the squad that clinched the title last weekend after beating Real Madrid. Media reports say he has received offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia, Italy and the United States. He has not announced his next destination, and Barcelona have not named a successor.
