Former Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel stated he remains pleased with his role in signing Harry Kane for the German club.
Tuchel made the remarks on Tuesday during a press conference in Mexico City, where he appeared in front of FIFA branding. He referenced his tenure at Bayern, which ended in 2024.
Speaking on Kane, Tuchel said, "When I was at Bayern, I'm still glad that I fought the fight to bring him to Bayern Munich against some other opinions." Kane joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023. The transfer was completed for a reported fee exceeding 100 million euros. Tuchel was Bayern manager at the time and publicly supported the move to secure the England striker.
The signing occurred amid debate over the club’s strategy and spending. Kane, 31, has since played two full seasons with Bayern. Tuchel departed the club in May 2024 and was appointed England national team manager in October 2024.
