Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi publicly congratulated Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday, following Portugal’s international friendly against the Super Eagles.

Ndidi posted his message on X, calling Ronaldo’s latest achievement an incredible milestone and a testament to your consistency, discipline, and longevity at the highest level of the game. The post included a photo of the two players together on the pitch during the match.

The friendly took place Wednesday evening at Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa in Portugal, kicking off at 19:45 UTC. It marked the first senior encounter between Ronaldo and the Nigeria national team.

Portugal head coach Roberto Martínez used the fixture as a final tune-up before the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Ronaldo featured in the game as Portugal’s captain, supported by Bruno Fernandes and João Félix. Nigeria was without forwards Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, placing added responsibility on Ndidi in midfield.

Ronaldo entered the match after recently reaching 800 career goals at club level, a milestone recorded during his final appearance for Al-Nassr. He has also surpassed 900 professional goals and scored his 100th goal for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Super Cup final.
