Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has named Spain as one of the favourites to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup during an interview with Brazilian digital broadcaster CazéTV this week.
The channel was created in November 2022 by streamer Casimiro Miguel and has grown into Brazil's largest sports outlet on YouTube with more than 26 million subscribers. Vinicius, who is set to lead Brazil's attack at the tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, made the comments as part of CazéTV's build-up coverage ahead of the finals.
He pointed to Spain's recent trophy and its young talent. "Spain are among the favourites at the World Cup, they won the Euros, and they have Lamine Yamal," Vinicius told CazéTV.
He added: "Lamine is one of the best in the world. Fans pay tickets for players like him." The Brazilian cited Spain's victory over England in the Euro 2024 final as evidence of their strength, and singled out Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal as a decisive factor in their squad.
Spain will enter the tournament in Group H and will face Saudi Arabia, Cape Verde and Uruguay in the opening phase. The nation last won the World Cup in 2010 in South Africa.
