Nigerian goalkeeper was named Udinese Calcio’s “Miglior Giocatore del mese di Maggio,” or Player of the Month for May, the club confirmed in a social media post on May 17, 2026.

The award was presented at Bluenergy Stadium in Udine, Italy, following the close of Serie A matchday activities for the month. Okoye received the MVP trophy, shaped like a harp and sponsored by The Black Stuff Irish Pub, recognizing his performances throughout May in the 2025/2026 Serie A season.

The 26-year-old recorded two clean sheets in May despite Udinese’s 0-1 home loss to US Cremonese on May 17, 2026. Okoye, who wears jersey number 40 and stands 197 cm tall, joined Udinese from Watford and has served as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper this season.

The monthly award is given by the club to highlight a player’s consistency, saves, and overall contribution. Club staff cited Okoye’s shot-stopping and organization of the defense as key factors in the decision.
