Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek Favors Mohamed Salah Over Ademola Lookman Ahead of January Transfer Window

Galatasaray Leader Dursun

Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has finalized the club's primary transfer target for the January window, signaling a bold strategic shift. Following the high-profile signings of Nigerian and Egyptian forwards, Özbek has instructed the club's management to pursue Liverpool icon Mohamed Salah, favoring him over the alternative option of Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.

As reported by the Turkish outlet Habersarikirmizi, Özbek outlined his reasoning, stating, “Rather than committing 45 million Euros plus an additional 10 million Euros in taxes for Ademola Lookman, we should direct our efforts toward acquiring Mohamed Salah.”

Özbek is reportedly driven by a conviction that Salah’s elite experience, proven track record, and immense commercial appeal offer Galatasaray greater long-term value. The president believes such a marquee signing would significantly bolster the squad’s competitive edge while elevating the club's international stature.

Özbek revealed the underlying plan, noting, “The objective is to secure his services from Liverpool without a transfer fee.” While no agreement is currently in place, the club is closely monitoring Salah’s situation. The Egyptian star is anticipated to evaluate his options in the coming months, with interest also likely from clubs in Saudi Arabia.
