Nigerian international Samuel Chukwueze scored twice for Fulham, nearly forcing a draw against English champions Manchester City in the Premier League. The former AC Milan winger’s late brace turned a comfortable lead into a tense finish for Pep Guardiola’s side, which ultimately secured a 5-4 win.
Chukwueze, recently signed by Fulham on loan from Milan, scored his first goals after eight appearances for the club. He netted both in six minutes, first in the 72nd minute and again in the 78th with three shots. His double shifted the momentum, reducing City's dominant 5-1 lead to a frantic 5-3.
Chukwueze’s goal was followed by his national teammate Alex Iwobi, who scored the second goal after English midfielder Smith Rowe put the first on the board. Chukwueze's performance had a positive effect on Fulham despite the loss, showing the threat he can bring in the upcoming season. Manchester City managed to hold off the late goal from Norway’s defensive midfielder Sander Berge to finish their league tour with a victory.
