Portuguese winger Rafael Leao has expressed enthusiasm about forming an attacking partnership with Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen at Galatasaray following his move from AC Milan to the Turkish champions.
The Sporting Lisbon academy graduate leaves Milan after seven seasons, during which he scored 80 goals in 291 appearances and played a key role in the club's 2021-22 Serie A title win. At Galatasaray, he will link up with Osimhen, who joined permanently from Napoli this summer, and former Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane.
Speaking to the club's media channel ahead of Galatasaray's UEFA Champions League fixture against Sporting Lisbon this week, Leao said he was familiar with the club's history and ambition. He referenced former players such as Didier Drogba, Gheorghe Hagi, and Wesley Sneijder who previously played in Istanbul.
He said Galatasaray is built to compete at the highest level against top clubs from other leagues and in the Champions League. Leao added that he spoke with Osimhen, Sane, and Lucas Torreira before making his decision, and that he already feels at home. In a light-hearted remark about his new teammate, he joked that he wants to provide 100 assists for Osimhen this season.
