The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) moved to strengthen ties with the Chinese Football Association (CFA) on Thursday in Abuja.
The initiative followed a meeting between NFF leadership and the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Yu Dunhai.
The meeting took place in Nigeria’s capital as part of ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation through sport. NFF officials said the engagement aims to establish closer collaboration and meaningful relations with their Chinese counterparts. The two officials were pictured exchanging a ceremonial plaque during the visit.
Ambassador Yu Dunhai has previously emphasized China’s commitment to enhancing cultural and sports cooperation with Nigeria. Speaking at the Grand Finale of the Chinese Ambassador’s Cup Wushu Championship in Abuja, Yu stated that China would provide support to strengthen the sectors. The three-day tournament was organized by the Chinese Embassy in collaboration with the National Sports Commission to promote sports ties between the nations.
China has also expressed interest in football collaboration, with former Ambassador Cui Jianchun noting that Nigeria leads in football in Africa and suggesting future exchanges involving the national team.
